Vaart is a commissioned artwork for the community centre ‘Babberspolder’ in Vlaardingen. Because the centre was built to house a multitude of services to all age groups, Rosaline chose for three boats hanging free in the air going in different directions. The boats are hanging in counterbalance with a huge wooden natural coloured block hanging meters above the main entrance hall. The choice for boats was an obvious choice due to the historical connection of Vlaardingen with a harbour industry, laying close to Rotterdam and the river Maas. The boats going in different directions symbolize different people and backgrounds coming together and exchanging while going their own way, just like the ships passing harbour for centuries.
