Arc de Triomphe is a public artwork made to inspire athletes for a marathon on Goeree Overflakee. Rosalinde Bakker harkened back to the triumph arcs of the ancient romans and replicated versions throughout many countries, most notably the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
In order to stimulate the athletes and recreative participants Rosalinde wanted to give the participants a moment of empowerment and therefore developed an artwork together with the audience. Working with local graffiti artists and volunteers. Volunteers went into the public collecting texts to encourage the participants. The texts where then put on display on the 'Arc the Triomphe’. So the blank white structure filled with inspiring texts to motivate and empower.
