The beauty of the rough power of the sky: an almost baroque work of intense drama, depth and sparkling dots. Uranus is the Greek personification of the sky and one of the primordial deities. In Greek Mythology Uranus is created by and wed to Gaia, mother earth and they had 18 children. Uranus hated his children and hid them away. After this came to light he was castrated and overthrown by his son Cronos. The Sky came no more to cover the Earth at night, this is symbolized in the work by the contrast of light in the back and the rise of the dark to the forefront. As a primordial struggle between the light of the sky and the dark of the night.
This work is a mixed media work and a combination of monotype, acryl, acrylic ink and acrylic chrome spray. After making the mono type I framed the work and worked it out taking away and bringing on paint, ink and spray paint.
I used black, oxide red and two deep blue colours to research this beautiful phenomena of the beauty of rough power as found in parts of the universe.
